繼貝多芬、柴可夫斯基、馬勒交響曲等專輯，杜達美與委內瑞拉玻利瓦爾青年管弦樂團挑戰了古典樂曲中的新高峰：俄羅斯作曲家史特拉汶斯基《春之祭》，以及經常被稱為「拉丁美洲的史特拉汶斯基」，曾經讓老克萊伯與馬勒相提並論的墨西哥作曲家雷維爾塔斯，其能夠喚起人們對神秘的失落世界記憶的《馬雅之夜》。
這是兩部充滿著意象、年輕活力、舞蹈性與節奏感的偉大作品。拉圖接任柏林愛樂音樂總監以後，曾經從全柏林選出兩百五十名少年、少女，由英國編舞家莫爾頓指導這些從來沒有接觸過古典音樂的少年、少女，演出史特拉汶斯基的《春之祭》。這次表演從籌備到演出的過程，被拍攝成紀錄片《這就是節奏！》。當時杜達美正好在柏林擔任拉圖的助理。從拉圖的排練裡，杜達美吸收到許多新觀念，並且把經驗注入到這次的錄音裡。
《馬雅之夜》原是1939年為導演烏魯埃塔所寫的電影配樂，後來被改編為四樂章的音樂會組曲。它融合了墨西哥民間音的元素，第二樂章〈狂歡之夜〉有如墨西哥街頭音樂，終樂章〈迷人之夜〉則是聲音的魔術。在這兩首作品裡，杜達梅美與樂團的演出，從頭到尾都維持住作品應有的強烈色彩、節奏感、力度與精確度，沒有一刻鬆懈下來。
