簡介:

皮爾斯無疑是英國二十世紀最偉大的男高音，他不僅激發了同代英國作曲家布烈頓的創作靈感，為他量身訂作出許多經典之作，包括歌劇「彼得格林」、「比利小子」、「魂斷威尼斯」、「法國號、男高音與弦樂團的小夜曲」以及「安魂曲」等，密切的合作，更培養出兩位音樂家間的絕佳默契與情誼。

2010適逢皮爾斯誕生100週年，Decca唱片特別以此輯作為紀念這位偉大演唱家的獻禮，當中收錄其演唱伊麗莎白時期的歌曲、巴洛克時期的巴哈、以至於浪漫時期的舒伯特藝術歌曲、白遼士等，及許多當代的珠機之作，寬廣的曲目讓人為之驚嘆。皮爾斯的聲音表情豐富，音樂詮釋充滿各種難以想像之可能，非常值得樂迷再次深入探討。

在本錄音中最值得一聽的，當然就是布烈頓為其所寫，1944年在布烈頓指揮下，由英國天才法國號演奏家布萊恩吹奏法國號，皮爾斯演唱男高音的「法國號、男高音與弦樂團的小夜曲」，不僅詮釋方向正統，三人的合作也默契十足，然而這個絕無僅有的組合，在布萊恩於1957年因一場車禍而喪生之後亦成為絕響。

皮爾斯所演唱的連篇歌曲如「美麗的磨坊少女」或「冬之旅」，嗓音中特別帶有獨特的詩意，令人回味再三，搭配布烈頓的伴奏，也讓鋼琴家傅聰盛讚，這是他聽過最好的舒伯特冬之旅。
